Forums:

I have tested the SDK a little more and I have noticed that it recognized and triggers an event at different and not consistent time intervals. I turned on the TV show and left the app playing and listening to it to record how often it will trigger and event. And the results are: 60 seconds after first trigger, then 4 seconds after, then 23 seconds after, then 33 seconds after. A longer list is below this message. Why does the time interval is so different? If I need frequent and consistent lookups for example is it possible to configure it to trigger consistently every 15 seconds? To achieve frequent local lookups I have set the GnACR object to following:

    self.acr.lookupCacheOnly = true;
    self.acr.preferredMaxLocalQueryInterval = 5;
    self.acr.noMatchModeMaxTime = 30;

Thank you very much!

Hi Sergey,

The Entourage SDK actually triggers queries based on a few factors, including both manual query signals, regular intervals, as well as an automatic transition detection algorithm that detects when there is a high probability of scenes or programs having changed. That is why the queries appear at irregular time intervals. You can see the reason each query was triggered (i.e. transition detected or regular interval) by looking in the logs.

Can you explain a little more about why you need to trigger queries consistently at 15 seconds?

Ching-Wei, thank you very much for your reply! It is getting now getting more clear to me. Yes, if an event is triggered when trasition is detected then it makes perfect sense. For example user has switched to a different channel and then back to our program or paused our TV show and then came back later on and continued watching our TV show...

The reason I asked this question is because I needed to understand why the interval is not regular and if it is possible to make it regular. The code I have posted above did not help. The look ups are local and even though I was setting self.acr.preferredMaxLocalQueryInterval = 5; id did not help. Can you advise how to make it regular if we need to?

Thank you Ching-Wei!

Sergey

Hi Sergey,

Due to the automatic transition detection, it is not possible to have a fixed interval between queries. We may add a way to support this in future builds.

Ching-Wei, thank you very much for your reply! I understand and will keep your answer in mind.. Ching-Wei, I wonder if you could help me with another question? I posted it under a new thread a few days ago: https://developer.gracenote.com/listen-video-show-background. Will you have a few minutes to look at this questions? I will be very thankful if you do!

Thank you very much Ching-Wei!

Sergey
