TV Hackfest San Francisco

Last week, we sponsored TV Hackfest in San Francisco, a 24 hour hackathon held in conjunction with Appsworld. Some great hacks were made, including a Leap Motion controlled 3D TV Guide, a port of our Entourage Automatic Content Recognition onto Google Glass, and even a TV-based Cards Against Humanity game! Mashup Awards is the biggest hacking ("mashup") competition in Japan, consisting of 3 months of hackathons ("mashup camps") and meetups ("caravans") in cities all across the country, and also accept submissions of hacks through an online submission process. Hella Hack Oakland

Last weekend, Gracenote and Pandora co-hosted Hella Hack Oakland, the first music hackathon in Oakland. The tagline was "Your Local Music Hackathon", and the idea was to combine some of the biggest names in music technology with the local Oakland and East Bay tech scene, since both Gracenote (Emeryville) and Pandora (Oakland) are proudly headquartered in the East Bay. By the end of the weekend, we had hacks that suggested bars for you, let you listen to your guilty pleasure in private, and make music videos on your phone (and many more)...Read More
